The set-up & running of prisons here in the USA does not get the attention it should. I am not familiar with the facts behind the appointment of Colette S. Peters as head of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. It sounds as if her selection should have been vetted more thoroughly, or at least more conversations should have been held regarding her qualifications. Nonetheless it is a done deal.
Then there is the question of Biden nominating Chad Meredith to a lifetime tenure judgeship. You had pointed out that he is an anti-choice, Federalist Society-loving lawyer. I cannot understand how Biden would make such a deal with McConnell, a Republican who is untrustworthy. If Biden shook hands with McConnell, he would need to count his fingers afterward to make sure he got them all back. I don’t understand Biden’s thinking on this at all! He needs to just tell McConnell HELL NO! No deals! With all the furor over the repeal of Roe v Wade, why would he do this? I’m glad you are keeping up on this mess. So much news, we readers cannot keep on top of all of it.
Finally, Josh Hawley should be thrown out of Congress for his support & participation in the January 6th insurrection. In addition, he is ignorant, unaware of his ignorance, & proud of his ignorance. Not the type of person to represent ALL of his constituents.
